1. To provide opportunities for student service learning and to maintain a high-quality reading environment, the Library of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "the Library") establishes these guidelines for the regular recruitment and training of bookstack volunteers.

2. Recruitment Procedure for New (and Returning) Volunteers:
   (1) The Library will publicly recruit volunteers at the beginning of each semester and as needed.
   (2) Eligibility: Current students of the University with good conduct, a responsible attitude, and enthusiasm for service.
   (3) Selection Process:

      A. Preliminary Selection: Conducted jointly by volunteer supervisors. Candidates passing the qualification review will be notified for training.
      B. Training: Pre-service training will be conducted by volunteer supervisors.
      C. Qualification: Those who complete the full training program will be officially appointed as volunteers.
      D. Replacement of Volunteers: In the event of vacancies, preliminary selection and training shall be organized by the respective volunteer supervisors as needed.

3. Volunteer Service Duty:
   (1) Bookstack organization volunteers must report for duty during the time slots indicated in their applications. Volunteers shall borrow and wear a volunteer badge from the Circulation Desk (1F) during service, and return it afterward for attendance record purposes.
   (2) If the scheduled service occurs outside the supervisor's regular working hours, the volunteer must check in at least once a month at the supervisor's desk.
   (3) Volunteers must serve at least four times per week, with each session being at least 30 minutes. Failure to meet the minimum for two separate weeks or receiving two consecutive “D” grades in evaluations will result in immediate disqualification.
   (4) Bookstack organization volunteers are required to perform dusting tasks at least once at the beginning and once at the end of each semester, totaling a minimum of four times per academic year.
   (5) For dusting, volunteers must collect a bucket and a cloth from the restrooms on the 5th, 6th, or 7th floors. Failure to complete the required dusting sessions will result in disqualification.
   (6) Shelving volunteers must serve at least twice per week for one hour each, or once per week for a minimum of two hours. Failure to meet this requirement for two weeks or any instance of improper shelving will result in immediate disqualification.

4. Evaluation:
   (1) Volunteers will be evaluated based on attendance, performance (including stack organization, shelving accuracy, and proper badge usage), which will be used as a reference for rewards or disciplinary actions.
   (2) Evaluations will be conducted by the designated supervisors. Bookstack organization volunteers will be assessed based on both quantitative service frequency and qualitative evaluations. Random weekly evaluations (2–3 times/week) will be graded on a four-level scale: A (Very Tidy), B (Tidy), C (Slightly Messy), D (Very Messy), with proper records maintained.

5. Rewards and Benefits:
   (1) Rewards:

      A. Commendation certificates or souvenirs awarded by the Library.
       B. Nomination for student awards submitted to the Office of Student Affairs.

   (2) Borrowing Privileges: Volunteers may borrow the same number of books as faculty and staff (excluding journals and magazines).

6. These guidelines shall be implemented upon approval by the Supervisory Meeting of the Office of Library and Information Services. Amendments shall follow the same procedure.
