These guidelines are enacted by the University Library (hereinafter referred to as "the Library") to provide audiovisual resources and services to support the teaching and research needs of all faculty members and students.
-
The Library's audiovisual materials and equipment are available for use by the University's faculty and staff (including their dependents), students, alumni, and holders of the "Library Friends Borrowing Card."
-
The Library's audiovisual collection includes video, audio, and multimedia materials. Among them, videotapes, audiotapes, laser discs, and DVDs labeled "Available for Circulation" may be borrowed. Other materials are for in-library use only, unless faculty members obtain prior approval from the Library for instructional or research purposes.
-
The opening hours of the Audiovisual Resource Center shall be determined by the decision of the Office of Library and Information Services Executive Meeting and publicly announced thereafter.
-
Audiovisual materials are managed under an open-shelf system. Users may retrieve items on their own and must personally present valid identification to borrow materials. Borrowing on behalf of others or transferring borrowed items is strictly prohibited.
-
Loan limits and periods are as follows:
(1) Faculty and staff may borrow up to five items for two weeks.
(2) Students, alumni, and Library Friends cardholders may borrow up to five items for one week.
-
Borrowed audiovisual materials may be reserved but cannot be renewed. Faculty members may apply to designate audiovisual materials for in-library use by students for a semester to support teaching needs.
-
Borrowed materials must be returned by the due date. Failure to do so will result in the suspension of all borrowing privileges and an overdue fine of NT$10 per item per day. Clearance for withdrawal or resignation will not be processed until all overdue fines are fully paid.
-
If borrowed audiovisual materials or equipment are lost or damaged, the borrower may compensate by providing an identical public performance version. Otherwise, compensation shall be made at twice the original price of the public performance version.
-
Audiovisual materials and equipment must be used properly in accordance with Library instructions. Users must inspect equipment prior to use and report any damage or malfunction to Library staff immediately.
-
Audiovisual materials not provided by the Library are not allowed to be played within Library premises. Unauthorized duplication using Library equipment is strictly prohibited and subject to copyright liability.
-
Use of the Individual Learning Area:
(1) Reservations may be made during opening hours. However, reservations will not be accepted within 20 minutes before closing.
(2) Users must present valid identification and complete the borrowing process in person when using Library audiovisual materials or equipment. Each person may borrow one item at a time and must return it on the same day.
-
Use of the Media Rooms:
(1) Users must make a reservation in advance. If unable to attend, users must cancel in advance to allow others to reserve the space. Failure to arrive within 30 minutes of the reserved time will be considered a forfeiture.
(2) As a general rule, groups of four or more may reserve small media rooms, and groups of eight or more may reserve large media rooms. These restrictions do not apply when used by faculty for instructional purposes.
(3) Faculty members may apply to use the Group Audiovisual Room for teaching purposes. However, in consideration of equitable access for all faculty and students, the room shall not be designated as a regular classroom or used for long-term reservations.
-
These guidelines shall be implemented upon approval by the Library Committee and the President. Amendments shall follow the same procedure.
